BestSweet is committed to achieving environment stewardship and to positively impact the communities where we do business.

BestSweet is dedicated to the practice of sound environmental stewardship and the promotion of health, safety and well being of our employees. These values originate with the Company’s Executive Leadership Team, are emphasized through all levels of the organization, and coordinated by the Environmental, Health, and Safety Manager.

 

The Company will endeavor to meet these objectives through the following principles:

Compliance

  • Meet or exceed all applicable federal, state, local and company environmental, safety and health standards.

  Hazardous Materials Management:

  • Provide a workplace free of recognized hazards and maintain healthy working conditions for all company employees.
  • Closely monitor all areas of our facility for the prevention of pollution.

  Waste Reduction and Recycling

  • Participate in recycling to the greatest practical extent to reduce impact on landfills and promote recovery of valuable resources.

  Communication

  • Convey to our employees, customers, industry associates, vendors and the general public our strong environmental, safety and health commitment.

  The Company will strive to continuously improve our commitment to the above-stated principles by:  

  • monitoring our impact on the environment through means of waste stream analysis, water reduction and energy management
  • improved technology
  • informing and educating employees.

 

BestSweet continually looks for ways to improve our efficiency through innovation, education, and implementation.

Here are some examples of what we are doing:

  • Changing over to energy efficient lighting
  • Added Boiler control modules to optimize fuel burning and reduce emissions.
  • Replaced black factory roof with energy efficient white reflective roof with new insulation to reduce heating and cooling losses.
  • Recycling cardboard, paper, plastics, metals, fiber drums and sheet plastic
  • Recycling waste liquid food product by having it put into compost
  • Recycle wood pallets
  • Installed dust collectors with hepa filtration systems
  • Reduced carton and trays sizes to better fit products, resulting in reduced material usage.
  • Replaced virgin packaging material with recycled material
  • Insulated buildings for HVAC energy conservation
  • Solar lighting in Distribution Center offices
  • Light sensors for warehouse lighting
